Since interviewing my friends was so fun, I decided to let them have even more control of my blog content as well as my life. On this lovely Friday, I let my friends control my day: what I did, what I ate, what I wore, and everything in between. This post is inspired by this video by Sadie Aldis, and this video by Annie Long, who had their YouTube friends control their days. You might’ve seen some of the people in my interviewing my friends post, but I also tried to include some new faces (or names, I guess). A big thank you to all of my friends who made my decisions, and hopefully y’all find this entertaining!
Waking up
I ended up asking two people what time I should wake up (you know, just in case one of them wanted me to wake up at some ungodly hour). Sarah said I should wake up at 7 am (I told you), and Taylor said I should wake up at 9 am. I decided to wake up at 8 am since it was in the middle of the two. This wasn’t too big of a stretch for me because I usually wake up at 8:30 am, so we are chilling so far.
Breakfast
For the most important meal of the day, I asked my sister, Jenny, what I should eat. She’s the source of 90% of my breakfast ideas and recipes, so I knew she would suggest something delicious. She said that I should eat avocado toast, which from my what I eat in a day, y’all should know that it’s one of my favorite breakfasts. Unfortunately, our avocados are still rock hard and not at all ripe, so I just had some of these savory potato pancake things for breakfast. Since I woke up so early, I was able to eat breakfast with my parents, which was nice because I usually eat alone.
Music
I usually listen to pop, but I’ve been telling Sid that I’d get hip to Drake and A Boogie for a good four months now, so I knew I had to let him pick my music for today. He gave me a playlist called “Chill”, which has mostly rap songs. Thoughts: pleasantly surprised. I never listen to rap, but I was kinda vibing.
Outfit
Surprise! I’m actually putting on an outfit that isn’t shorts and a t-shirt? Shocking, I know. I decided to look a bit more presentable today, so I asked Clary what I should wear. She has the best style, and if I could steal her closet, I would (for legal reasons, that’s a joke). She picked out a dark grey ruched crop top that I made from an old t-shirt and a skater skirt from the brand Black Watch that I stole from my sister’s closet (thanks, Jenny). I almost never wear skirts, but this was a really cute outfit!
Hair
I usually leave my hair in a messy bun to keep it out of my face (and it’s not like I’m seeing anyone), but today I decided to actually put a little effort into it. Since Melissa has the hair braiding skills that I will never have, I asked her what I should do with my hair. Coincidentally, she said that I should go to bed with braids so I could have wavy hair in the morning. Last night, I just did two standard braids that made me look like Wendy from Wendy’s and this morning, I took them out and brushed through them with my fingers to make the waves look all nice. I do these waves a lot during the school year (since I have actual people to impress), so it was nice to do them again.
Makeup
Since I was already dressed to (kind of) impress, I thought I might get a little more fancy and do some makeup. This is the first time I’ve gotten ready during quarantine with outfit and makeup and everything for an occasion that wasn’t a job interview. Well, there’s a first time for everything. I asked Julia what I should do for my makeup since I feel like hers is always on point. I was kind of hoping for her to say no makeup because I’m lazy, but she said that I should do intense makeup. I’m in no way a beauty guru, so I did my best attempt at a sort of dark, smoky eye look. For eyeshadow, I used the Lamora Exposed Nudes palette, which contains a bunch of shimmery, brown-toned shades. I usually stick with the lighter, pinkish shades in this palette, but for this ~intense~ look I chose some of the darker brown colors. I followed this tutorial and used Champagne (the shade, not the drink) on my lid and inner corner, Comfort in my crease, Wood in my outer corner and lower lash line, and Espresso on my upper and lower lash lines. To finish off, I used the Maybelline Colossal Volum Express mascara and a pink tinted lip balm. Overall, way more bold than I would ever do, but it was fun to go out of my comfort zone.
Accessories
I thought my outfit was missing something, so I asked Harini to pick some accessories for me! She always had really cute jewelry on at school, so I sent her some pictures of my necklaces, bracelets, and scrunchies and let her decide which ones I should wear. She ended up choosing the moon necklace and the chevron friendship bracelet, both of which I love. I haven’t worn either of them in a couple months, so I was happy that I got a chance to wear them again.
Blog Post
I wanted to start working on a new blog post, so I asked Mai what post she wanted to see. I have a running list of blog post ideas, so I sent that to her to see which one she thought was cool. See, this is where I messed up because you know, I put “sending a quiz to all of my past crushes” as the last item on the list knowing that it’s a huge trend on YouTube but also knowing that I would be embarrassed out of my mind because I’m still friends with half of these guys. But um, she picked that one. I’m actually pretty interested to see what these people say, so I put together the quiz and outlined the post. After much contemplation, I worked up the nerve to send the messages (*quakes*); so uh, a sending a quiz to all of my crushes post is coming soon. Hooray. Anything for the content.
Baking
Since I had a bit of time in the afternoon, I decided to bake something. To find out what I was going to bake, I asked Zoe, who happens to have a fabulous food blog! Go check her out because her blog is so cool, and it features not just food, but the chemistry behind it as well! She suggested that I bake either a pie, lava cake, or brownies, which all sounded sooo good. Since we had a lot of apples in our fridge, I made some mini apple pies! I used this recipe and spent way too long trying to make them look like pretty little things, but they tasted good (no soggy bottoms!!!)! I made them in a really cool mini cake pan so the sides and bottoms were nice and patterned. I’m very pleasantly surprised since this is my first successful time baking a pie or tart, so kinda proud!
Cover
If you didn’t know, my friend and I started a music account on Instagram (text me and I’ll give you the username). Since Karin is a clarinet goddess and a faithful follower of the music account, I let her pick which song I should cover next. She said that I should do a Conan Gray or mxmtoon song, which I’m really happy about because I’m such a fan of both of their music. I’ve been trying to sing “Heather” by Conan Gray for about eighty years, but I in no way have the range to pull it off. So, I decided to sing “prom dress” by mxmtoon, and it went pretty okay.
What to Watch
I wanted to relax a bit before bed, so I asked my brother, Alex, what movie or show I should watch. For a few months, I was using his Netflix account, so I thought he was the perfect person to ask for this. He said that I should watch On My Block, which is a comedy-drama show. Netflix summary: “In a rough Los Angeles neighborhood, four smart, funny, and streetwise teens find their lifelong friendships tested as they begin high school.” My thoughts: really good! I love all of the characters (even though Cesar is veRy questionable in this ep but you know I have faith), and Ruby’s abuelita is so!! funny!! Jamal is my spirit animal. Will be watching more.
Sleep
To figure out what time I should go to sleep, I asked Shaina because I feel like she’s the epitome of discipline and not having a screwed up sleep schedule like the rest of us. And I was correct (!!!) because she said that she usually sleeps at 11:30 pm. She’s also quite a smart cookie because she also figured out that it was for my blog. 11:30 isn’t too far off from the time I usually sleep, so it wasn’t a huge change for me. Goodnight everyone (or good morning/afternoon depending on when you’re reading this), and hope y’all found this fun!
