Fall is coming to a close, and I’m devastated. I don’t know what y’all think, but fall is by far the best season. School isn’t too hard but you still have productive stuff to do, you have that perfect not-too-hot not-too-cold weather, pumpkin everything is lining the shelves, drinking hot cocoa is socially acceptable (order the mint hot cocoa from Starbucks you won’t regret it), and there’s Thanksgiving (the best holiday, please and thank you). Fall is just such a good season and honestly, underrated. You know what else is underrated? Some of these things on my fall favorites list, which I’m about to share with you. These are all the best books I’ve read, shows I’ve watched, songs I’ve listened to, and food I’ve eaten this fall season. Hope you all enjoy your seasonal dose of recommendations, and stay tuned at the end of February for some more! Happy reading! Also, if any of you out there are Love Island fans, please tell me. I need someone to geek out over this show with.
Books
I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn (YA contemporary romance; the fluffiest cutest freaking romance ever that also made me cry so hard; Asian rep and takes place in Japan!; dealing with parental expectations while also figuring out what you want to do with your future; pursuing what you love and living in the present; family dynamics and uncovering the past; the freaking cutest thing ever I love this book)
Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes (YA contemporary romance; girl who believes she’s essentially cursed -- many incidents happen where everyone else gets hurt and she turns out fine -- tries to face her fears; main character and love interest are tennis gods)
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord (YA contemporary romance; enemies to lovers + online romance at the same time -- like the thing similar to Alex, Approximately where they become friends both IRL and online, but they have aliases online so they don’t know that they became friends twice; family businesses and subsequent Twitter war; slight modern Romeo and Juliet vibes)
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (YA fantasy; crew of -- you guessed it -- six people (some of which have magical powers) go on a very dangerous mission for some very big bank)
Fire by Kristin Cashore (YA fantasy; sequel to Graceling but you can read this book without reading the previous; takes place a few decades before Graceling in a different part of the universe so there’s almost no character overlap; people with magic powers and a very strong, brave main character)
Movies/TV Shows
Love Island USA (HAHA you best believe I’m putting this on here; your standard reality TV dating show, but I like it better than The Bachelor/Bachelorette because it’s not forty people gunning for one person -- it’s multiple guys and gals coupling up with each other; it’s kinda got Bachelor in Paradise vibes because the most popular couple wins all the marbles, and overall just a very fun show; will make you laugh and swoon and scream at the TV)
